Past Life Regressions
The idea of reincarnation is that after death – an individual may be reborn into another body. This idea has existed in various religions for at least 3,000 years and in many ancient cultures for much longer – such as Hindus, Shamans, Druidism, Native American tribes and Norse mythology.
There is a widely held spiritual belief that each of us goes through a series of lifetimes for the purpose of spiritual growth and soul development. Reincarnation is closely linked to the concept of Karma – a Sanskrit term relating to cause and effect.
It is said that more people on the planet believe in reincarnation, so by implication are open to past life regression.
Past life regression therapy is used by some physicians in cases with some unexplained pains, diseases, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and gender dysphoria have all been treated using life regression therapy problems in past lives. It is not evidence-based. Past life regression is based on the reincarnation hypothesis, but this hypothesis is not supported by evidence but the end result or improvement is what is counted.
What is Past Life Regression Therapy
Past life regression is a way to use hypnosis to uncover memories from previous lives. Therapists who practice this believe that many health problems people have might come from difficult experiences in their past lives. They guide patients back in time through hypnosis. This can take them to when they were babies, during their time in the womb, or even to lives they lived before their current one.
This therapy assumes that reincarnation, the idea of living multiple lives, is real. Practitioners think that by addressing events from these past lives, they can help treat various conditions, pains, or diseases that affect someone in their current life.
Some well-known experts, like psychiatrist Dr. Brian Weiss, support past life regression. Dr. Weiss initially didn’t believe in reincarnation. However, as he encountered patients who shared detailed past life stories during hypnosis, he changed his mind. He found that by helping patients confront their fears from past lives, using hypnosis, they could overcome current phobias. Dr. Weiss gained credibility because he shifted his beliefs based on evidence from his medical practice rather than personal beliefs.
What happens in Past Life Regression Session
Past Life Regression (PLR) is a gentle kind of therapy using hypnosis that helps people remember their past lives. Normally, these memories are hidden in our minds because our lives today are very busy and noisy with lots of thoughts. During a PLR session, you’re guided into a calm and quiet state where it’s easier to find these hidden memories in your mind.
PLR can help you in several ways:
- Remember past life experiences.
- Understand why you feel deeply connected to certain places.
- Explore past life and present connections with special people.
- Discover if physical problems you have might be linked to past life experiences.
- Understand and accept emotions or beliefs that might come from past lives, helping you deal with fears or unexplained feelings.
- Embrace the important lessons you learned in those past lives.
Stroy 1: Healing the unexplainable pains
The person I was helping came to me with terrible pain in his stomach that doctors couldn’t explain. Every test he took showed everything was normal, yet the pain was intense and baffling. He had tried everything to get rid of it, but nothing worked. This pain had started a few years ago.
During our session, I guided him back to when the pain began. He regressed to a past life where he was a man, leading soldiers in an army in a kingdom ruled by a corrupt king. People respected and followed him more than the king, which made the king feel threatened. Out of fear, the king planned and succeeded in murdering him, stabbing him exactly where the pain now existed. I helped the person move beyond that life and heal the hurt place in his soul.
As we delved further, he revisited another life as a prince who didn’t want war but was pressured by his father, the king, to engage in it. Feeling powerless to change the situation, during a war, he chose death over continuing to fight. Once again, he was stabbed in the same spot. I guided him out of that life and healed the wound in his soul for completeness.
Next, I guided him toward his higher self for lessons. The lessons learned were to stand up for himself, recognize his power to bring change, and believe in it.
After fully embracing these lessons, he returned to the present. Astonishingly, he felt no more pain. The relief he experienced was beyond words, and the gratitude he felt was overwhelming.
Story 2: Healing Past Life Fears
The client came to me with troubles in swimming, feeling a lot of fear and difficulty breathing in water. Even after learning how to swim, they couldn’t do it comfortably or trust the water, whether it was a swimming pool or any other.
When I guided the client to explore their memories, they went back to a past life where they were a woman tied in chains on a boat with a heavy lock over her heart. Someone struck that lock and pushed her into the river, where she struggled to survive, desperately trying to swim and asking for help, but unfortunately, she didn’t make it.
I then guided her to witness her entire life. In that past life, she recognized her parents and connected her father in that life with the uncle in this life, who is very close to her as a father figure. In that life, she desired to study, but societal norms in the village in India prohibited women from pursuing education. Despite this, she managed to learn and teach other girls and women in the town. However, men in power felt threatened and punished her by marrying her off to a cruel man. Even in the face of suppression, she empowered other women by teaching them.
The husband, threatened by her strength, punished her by chaining and publicly abusing her before pushing her into the water to drown. This experience triggered immense pain in her chest area, which persisted in this life. Seeing her parents in this life as a couple made her associate herself with her past life’s mother as a wife and view her father as an enemy—a husband who had killed her. This made her feel insecure and angry, avoiding any closeness with her father in this life and fearing relationships.
As these realizations unfolded, I guided her to review her life from a higher perspective and helped heal those emotional wounds. When she emerged from the session, she noticed a reduction in her chest pain, something she had thought was normal. She learned that any discomfort is our body’s way of trying to communicate with us.
Gradually, after the session, her ease with swimming improved, her pain decreased, her relationship with her father got better, and she began seeing positive changes in her work and personal life. She now feels content in her marriage and is happier overall.
